Where standard workstations fail engineers
Consumer and entry-level workstations are rated for office loads, not sustained 100% CPU utilisation across a 48-hour FEA run. Without ECC RAM, memory errors during long simulations can produce subtly wrong results – errors you only discover when you compare the numbers to physical test data.
Thermal throttling on inadequate cooling silently slows solver throughput. You only notice when you track runtimes and wonder why they are inconsistent. We build to prevent that from the start.
How we specify an engineering workstation
- CPU: High core count for parallel solvers (ANSYS, Abaqus, OpenFOAM, MATLAB Parallel); high clock for sequential solver stages.
- RAM: 128 to 256GB for large mesh models; ECC for numerical integrity on long runs.
- Storage: NVMe for solver scratch and result output; secondary capacity for simulation archives.
- GPU: Optional GPU acceleration for solvers that support CUDA (ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL); workstation GPU for CAD viewport if dual-use.
- PSU and cooling: Built for sustained load – thermal headroom matters at 100% utilisation for 24 hours or more.
- OS: Windows for ANSYS and Abaqus licence compatibility, or Linux for OpenFOAM and HPC environments, as required.
Tested the way engineers actually use them
We run stress tests calibrated to sustained CPU and memory loads – not 10-minute benchmarks. If you have a typical simulation runtime, share it and we will verify the build performs to that target before delivery.
Every machine is assembled in-house at our Publika workshop. Post-delivery, if your model complexity grows and you need more RAM or storage, we can accommodate that – we know exactly what headroom is available inside.

Do you support licensed engineering software pre-installation?
Yes. If you supply the licence, we can pre-install and verify ANSYS, COMSOL, SolidWorks Simulation, MATLAB, or other packages before delivery. We confirm the solver runs cleanly before the machine leaves us.
What is the advantage of ECC RAM for simulation?
ECC memory detects and corrects single-bit memory errors in real time. For long solver runs, this prevents silent numerical corruption that would otherwise require you to re-run the simulation from the beginning.
Can you build for multi-node or cluster configurations?
For teams that need distributed solving across multiple machines, we can build multiple nodes to a consistent configuration and configure high-speed networking between them. Contact us with your cluster requirements.
